No one wants to show up empty-handed to a holiday party. These candied walnuts are a deliciously-festive treat that are super easy to make. Not to mention the coconut sugar is a lesser contributor to your holiday insulin spike than regular sugar, which is a plus.
CANDIED WALNUTS WITH COCONUT SUGAR
- 4 cups walnuts (16oz)
- 2 egg whites
- 2 tbsp water
- 1 cup coconut sugar
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp pumpkin pie spice
Preheat the oven to 225. Mix egg whites and water in a large bowl, adding the walnuts and stirring to coat. Whisk together the coconut sugar, salt, cinnamon, and pumpkin pie spice. Pour mixture over walnuts to coat. Spray baking dish with cooking spray, and spread walnuts evenly across. Bake for one hour, stirring the walnuts every 15 minutes. Remove from oven and allow for walnuts to cool until coating hardens. Place walnuts in a cute little dish, and enjoy!
These candied nuts are also a great addition to any salad and can be enjoyed all year-long. This recipe also works well with any kind of nut, so try it out on whichever is your favorite!
