Mackey and I have lived in this loft for the past three years, and we've loved it. From the location, our neighbors, to the space itself; it was almost perfect for us. Over and over again, though, we found ourselves in the midst of "loft-improvement" projects -- buying storage here, making aesthetic changes there... all in efforts to do the loft justice and to create a space we loved to live in.
Eventually we looked at each other and knew it was time to move on from the loft, ultimately to build something that was ours. After tons of house hunting and searching for a creative solution, we purchased a little historic building/commercial space in Denver, which we have begun transitioning into a modern residential space...And so, the move commenced.
Small-space living is something we've believed in for a long time, and a lifestyle we plan on continuing in our new home. I've come to value smart storage solutions, living in close quarters with one another, and the necessity to rid of all the household "extras." When you lack space and storage, you're forced to keep only the necessities.
Overall, it's been a bittersweet goodbye. We've learned so much from this loft-living experience! But man...am I so beyond excited for our new house. Our new place won't be ready to live in for a while -- between getting our designs approved by the Historic District, zoning, the city, etc. Until then, we'll be living a nomadic lifestyle throughout Denver, an experience I am also really looking forward to.
